Steamed Buns
My obsession with steamed buns (particularly with the pork buns I had once in Chinatown as a child of maybe 6 or 7?) has remained strong through the years. There is a fantastic Asian grocery in Rochester we frequented to stock up on coconut milk, gai lan, tofu, etc. As a treat, I'd always reach for frozen red bean buns. Last night was the first time I made them from scratch!
Above- buns wait for the steamer or freezer. Half are sweetened red bean and half a gingery veggie mix with cabbage, mushroom, carrot and scallion. It's the 3rd time I've made the veggie version and am getting better forming the buns. So cute!
Below- hot buns, an asian-inspired kale salad, pineapple and oranges.
