pidge in springtime

Pidge has really hit her stride. For almost a year, she has been struggling to adapt to our apartment- specifically to the ground shaking train that goes by several times a week. Only recently has she started exploring windows.
Albert and I were delighted to see her laying in the sunshine, relaxing. Of course this led to a 10 minute photo shoot.

new tote

My new skinner and stevens bag! Took this puppy out to whole foods yesterday where I got totally overwhelmed with the bulk section and found myself opening another shopping tote to put my russet potatoes so as not to dirty this one. The design is of a 1910 Paris map and made from recycled pvc fabric. Thank you, Lisa :)

p.s. Also had to show off our newest wall art addition in the background. The fattest cat ever taken from an old Life magazine decoupaged onto a handmade wooden frame/canvas.
Makes me smile every time I brush my teeth.

Steamed Buns

My obsession with steamed buns (particularly with the pork buns I had once in Chinatown as a child of maybe 6 or 7?) has remained strong through the years. There is a fantastic Asian grocery in Rochester we frequented to stock up on coconut milk, gai lan, tofu, etc. As a treat, I'd always reach for frozen red bean buns. Last night was the first time I made them from scratch!

Above- buns wait for the steamer or freezer. Half are sweetened red bean and half a gingery veggie mix with cabbage, mushroom, carrot and scallion. It's the 3rd time I've made the veggie version and am getting better forming the buns. So cute!

Below- hot buns, an asian-inspired kale salad, pineapple and oranges.

Photo shoot!

I'm usually asked at craft shows if pidge pidge scarves can be worn by men. Of course! They make men and women even more chic, distinguished and hip!

70 degrees is the ideal temp for a spontaneous photo shoot. Thank you Albert for your mad modeling skills :)

Why not wear them all at once!

Found these sweet tiny daffodils outside last week in the unnaturally warm backyard. Pidge was not up for a photo shoot. After taking one whiff of the flowers, she wanted nothing to do with them or me.

11 new scarves going online soon!
